Just the beginning…

Welcome to my blog!

If you are interested in getting to know who I am a little better, or would like to know what this blog is going to be about, then please read on! If not, then I will be posting my first ‘real’ post very soon, so stay tuned.

If you have chosen to continue reading, then hello! My name is Belle. I’m 16 (practically) and from Southern England (no, not London). I am currently studying for my GCSE’s to take in the middle of next year, and have just applied for sixth form, where I will be studying biology, classical civilisation, politics and English literature. Jane Austen is my favourite author and I am still waiting for my letter of acceptance to Hogwarts. But that’s enough about me, let me explain more about the reasoning behind starting this blog.

Living in a modern, technological society, it is easy to avoid and/or neglect literature. Though it is, in my opinion, what fuels humankind. However, I have known people who laugh at those who read a lot, when it is my belief that it is themselves that they should be laughing at for their own ignorance. I further believe (among others I am sure), that literature inspires us as human beings. It sparks our creative and intellectual minds and opens us up to believe that anything is possible… cringe-worthy as that sounds. It allows us to understand our world through various view points and therefore provides us with the ability to empathise with the people who surround us. All of which are valuable skills that are necessary for the progression of society as a whole.

Though of course literature offers much more than what is said above, this is my inspiration for starting my blog. I have adored reading since a very young age – hence creating my childhood nickname of ‘bookworm Belles’, and hope that one day this blog enables me to talk to people with similar interests and passions, as well as exchange book recommendations and discuss texts with people.

So, if you also have a passion for literature, then this is the right place for you!
